Hi Grahame. Thank you very much for your informative reply. I think it is very unlikely that this species did hitch a lift in someone's car. If it indeed came from a vehicle, then I believe it must have been placed there and released intentionally. Saying that, the Lardon Silver-studded Blue still remains a mystery. For those butterfly enthusiasts that are interested in mysterious Blue butterflies, please see my post in my personal diary. This refers to the Alcon Blue - Maculinea alcon, which turned up at Cliefden in Buckinghamshire in the early part of the 19th century and was also reported from Parley Heath in Dorset. Any comments would be most welcome.
