Bulgaria in June

Post by Alastair Rae »

I thought I'd share some photos from Bulgaria, a Naturetrek trip at the end of June. It is a lovely country and a bit of an eye-opener about how many more species there are on the continent and how over-farmed our countryside is by comparison.

The best bit was seeing Glanville Fritillary and Chequered Skipper at the same site!

I hope I've identified these correctly.

Thank you for sharing your photos with us Alastair. Bulgaria is not a country everyone thinks of visiting.
Cheers, Chris

Brilliant! I especially like the lesser spotted fritillaries because you can actually see the disco-cellular veins - really useful pictures for showing up the difference from spotted fritillaries.
