I can make all the dates mention so far, I will check the Hall booking diary tomorrow and see if any of those dates are available.

Yes please!

I'll think about putting an agenda together based on the feedback received so far, and also talk wiht Roger Buchanan about how we publicise this through the Hampshire BC branch, as well as through UK Butterflies.

Cheers,

- Pete

Based on the assumption that we're not going to find a date that we're all able to make, then I think the only "fair" method to apply is to follow the sequence in this thread, where Maurice came up with the first set of candidate dates etc.

So ... that leaves us with 8th March. Apols Martin, but I can't think of another way to resolve this.

Cheers,

- Pete

Is this event expected to run into late evening? If so I'm not sure about the wisdom of driving long distances that night and would be looking for overnight accommodation. If the Bull is the venue of choice then that could be an easy solution. Hopefully the winter months wouldn't be too demanding for rooms.

Hi eccles,

I was assuming that we'd start at (say) 10am and finish by (say) 5pm

Cheers,

I`m proably not going to be able to make any Saturdays.

Working 6 days a week at the moment and its looks like it will carry on into the new year, so will have to say no at the moment, but that could change near to the date, but don`t hold my place if anyone else wants it.

Right - I'll "get this going" in the next few days, with an agenda. Some logistical items I'd appreciate feedback on:

1. The cost of the venue needs to be covered. Mike's managed to negotiate a fantastic rate but we still need to cover the cost of the event. So would a donation of £5 be too much - with all profits from the event going to BC (in fact, we can give this directly to Roger Buchanan, the hants BC chairman)? Or maybe just ask for donations and hope we cover costs?

2. I was thinking of having a guest speaker come along to talk butterflies, rather than photography (since most of the day will be filled by that). I've not approached anyone, but candidates would be Matthew Oates (founder member of Hants BC and has just won the BC Lifetime achievement award - see http://www.butterfly-conservation.org/a ... oates.html) or Adrian Riley (just written a new book on British Butterflies). Other suggestions welcome. Again, we'd need to cover their travel costs - hence the "entry fee" :)

3. Anything else people would like to see?

Cheers,

- Pete

Well, I'd be more than happy with paying an entry fee , and if theres a guest speaker that would be great.

Presumably as this is a whole day event we'll have refreshments, maybe everyone bringng savoury snacks or cakes ?
I can provide a hot water boiler to keep teas and coffees on the go.

So... we're having a speaker(s)

A show of our photographic equipment ?

Everyone bringing along images to discuss/critique ?

Problem solving discussion on photo technique or computer image processing ?

Any more ???

Since some of you are online as I write this :) - I intend to publicise the event tomorrow. See:

I'd appreciate any comments before I do this.

I wish you could make it too, Martin. All I can say is that you'll be missed Martin, but we'll hopefully run this type of event at least annually.

Looks great to me Pete, I presume you are still going to restrict numbers and to registered attendees ?

Yes. Numbers are restricted to 30, although I might allow for 35-40 in terms of registrations, since there are bound to be last-minute cancellations.

In terms of registrations, those already noted on this list can considered themselves registered.

Mike - I'll be sending out a detailed agenda to you, Maurice Pugh and Roger Buchanan in the next hour. Anyone else (i.e. a "proper" photographer) we should include - and apologies to all those folk I've just insulted? :)

Cheers,

- Pete
