Have I correctly identified as a pair of Swallow Tailed Moths in the garden this afternoon. Thanks in advance

Hi Angie,
Yes, they are Swallow-tailed. A common moth but very striking and they do breed in gardens. I would guess the fat-bodied one is the female and the one lower down is an exhausted or sleeping male.

Thanks for confirming for me. First time I've noticed them - I actually thought it was a dying leaf on the shrub at first. Poor chap - they were not there today so I hope Mr Swallowtail is off enjoying himself after an afternoon's nap
Having looked up what they look like at the caterpillar stage, they'd be very easily missed to someone like me.
