Did you know?

Post by Willrow »

Jeremy Thomas & Richard Lewington's The Butterflies of Britain & Ireland has been fully revised and is due for publication this month, from British Wildlife Publishing.

The hardback is going to retail at £34.95 and the paperback version will be £18.95. The dust jacket will sport a Swallowtail.

Classic work that should be on every butterfly enthusiasts bookshelf.

If they've improved on the first edition, I'll be fascinated to see how :?:

Hi Tony,
Jeremy was given a little leeway to update a few chapters, to take into account recent happenings such as the Long-tailed Blue annus mirabilis. This additional information means that any serious butterflyer is going to have to buy it!

I'd like to do just that, so if anyone finds a means of purchasing it, could they post a link on here so others can do likewise?

Just received a review copy and it looks fabulous! A review will appear in due course. Changes from the previous edition that I've noticed so far are:

Cryptic Wood White now included (to replace Real's Wood White)
Long-tailed Blue 2013 influx discussed (and distribution map updated!)
Contintental Swallowtail 2013 influx included

Will post more details as I uncover the differences (and get input from Jeremy and Richard).

While I've been sent the hardback, this edition is also available in paperback.

Cheers,

- Pete
