Visit to Portugal

Post by Tony Moore »

Some shots from a recent visit to Portugal. Reasonably sure of most of the IDs, but happy to be corrected:

Aetherie Fritillary (Melitaea artherie

False Ilex Hairstreak (Satyrium esculi Saw several in one small area - very early, I understand.

Provencal Fritillary (Mellicta deione). Too far south for M. athalia, and does seem to have a 'red nose'.

Some nice exotic species you've got there Tony. I'm hoping to see esculi myself, but in 4 weeks time across my way!!
Cheers, Chris
