I dunno!

I try to elicit from Martin what might be a groundbreaking observation of the behaviour of an immature stage of Mimas tiliae, and all you can do, Guy, is make a silly joke!

Sorry about that, Martin.

I agree - very silly. I personally thought he'd gone to visit his flat mate :)

Grayling Ova

Post by COLIN BAKER »

My first sighting of a grayling ova being deposited.
The female almost arches her body through 180 degress to deposit the ova which is surely unique in our butterflies.

Taken with the Fuji S7000 and Raynox DCR-150 macroscan conversion lens 1.5X

That's Eeles, Nicol, Padfield - outside the Head's study first thing in the morning! And you can wipe that grin off your face, Gruditch!

Lance: loss of privileges for a month!

Now, what was the theme of this month's competition?

Looks like butterfly catterpillars are kinda camera-shy!! Here's another moth!
Photographed this splendidly furry fellow on Oct 29th last year at the Blackburn Meadows Nature Reserve here in Sheffield. Using my Olympus C750 UZ on macro:-

Hi Denise - I don't want to be a stickler, but this isn't an immature stage :(

Here is one late entry to this competition from Finland. I will continue with my last month species - so here is Apollos larva on it's food plant.
