Post by Paul Harfield »

Could somebody confirm what species of plume moth this is please. Spotted in the garden today. Is it Emmelina monodactyla :?:

Also can anybody identify this very thorny, 2 metre high plant please, seen along a local footpath today. Could it be Acacia :?: it looked very out of place

I'll second the E. monodactyla.

It could be Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) if you do a search on that and add 'thorns' onto it the images seem to match yours. So it looks like you were in the right area.

Thanks for the suggestion Mike but I think Nigel P has got this one. Black Locust looks like the right id. Many thanks :D
