Hi,
Just been going through my old pictures and came across this one, is it just normal variation for this Common Blue Female to have such a pronounced dark Band and so few Orange spots (sorry best pic I have).

No - she's beyond the range of normal variation.
She very much resembles this unnamed aberration in the Cockayne Collection:

I too have a common blue question (or is it ? )
i was taking pictures of common blues on a North Wales beach when i got only one picture of this little fella
same size as the common blues
not the best of pictures either but being new to photography and butterflies no doubt this is going to be a common question from me

Definitely a female Common Blue which, as we can see from this page, are quite variable in terms of the amount of blue scaling.
