Small Copper

Post by Paul Harfield »

Hi
Yes I know this is not a good photo, but I was almost bent double over a barbed wire fence digging into my midrif  It was the best I could manage of this one individual along my local footpath yesterday. I just wondered if this Small Copper could be considered as caeruleopunctata :?: Or does the blue need to be more extreme :?:
caeruleopunctata ?
caeruleopunctata ?

Any amount of blue is caeruleopunctata - and this is therefore such a beast!

Cheers,

I agree.....the specimen in question has plenty of blue but as it is a bit faded is not so contrasting. This does not mean it is not this said form 'caeruleopunctata'. We see a fair number of this form in Cornwall each year.
