Here is the last report from Chamonix. Due to a night of rain, the cloud level was a lot lower on our final day, so we did a walk in Les Bois, a wooded riverside habitat just 2km from Chamonix town centre.
There were good numbers of Silver Washed Fritiallary here, including a mating pair.
Close by was what I think is a Heath Fritillary
The longer grass here, meant that Grizzled skippers gave way to large numbers of small orange skippers. Now I know there are many posts to the forum trying to distinguish these apart, so any help with these would be greatly received.
1. I think this is Essex
2,3,4 I cannot be certain of
By the rivers edge, some blues put in an appearance and the star of them all was this Provencal Short Tailed Blue.
Common Blue
This final blue has me puzzled. The nearest I can get to is Osiris. Any thoughts? (sorry about picture quality)
Last but not least a couple of whites. I'm thinking Small & Green Veined. But of course hoping they maybe Southern Small and Mountain GV. For the final time, any thoughts from the experts?
So there it is, the final part of my Chamonix trip report. Thanks to all who have helped me with identification.
Kind Regards
Kevin

Nice souvenirs Kev. Photos to contemplate over winter. Unfortunately all good things have an end - until the next time of course!

Regarding your Skippers, I agree no1 is Essex. nos 2 and 4 both look like Small Skippers to me, whilst I can't be sure either way in no3.
