ID for Moth, Skipper, Fly, Caterpillar please

I took this photo's of a Caterpillar at Gaits Barrow, I think it's a six spot Burnet, am I right?

The Moth and Skipper I took in my front and Back Garden, the Skipper is very small, I thought at first S/SKipper but it's got black antenna I think, could it be an ES? The moth was white and I thought it was a BF at first.

I took the Photo of this fly in Blean Woods, least I think it's a fly. Goldie

The caterpillar is Cinnabar Moth, and the fly is a Scorpion Fly, I think.

I'd say the skipper is Small, but I've been wrong before!

I usually send my micro moths to the county recorder. I think this may be Crambus pascuella. If you go to the UK Moths site http://ukmoths.org.uk and stick crambus into the moth name search it will give you a list and if you click on the names you get the pictures.

The little moth is probably Crambus pascuella, though could be something exotic I never come across.

I went to the moth site John and they gave me Ucosma Obumbratana, which looks very much like my moth. they couldn't give me any thing for the name you gave me John and Matsukaze so may be that names wrong

Hi Goldie,

Your site for the Skipper sighting is a little way outside of the range of Essex Skipper, which makes yours a Small Skipper.

we have had (since 2007 iirc) a confirmed site for Essex Skipper in Scotland near Lockerbie (in fact I'm leading a walk there on Sunday).
Almost certainly an accidental introduction but they are well established now.

Matsukaze, that does look like my moth, mine was more whiteish when it flew, I did disturb it I must admit, it has a definate pointed head like that one as well, I don't know much about moth's I must admit.

I suppose Scott if Essex Skipper's can live in Scotland they could live round here where the climate is milder, I must bow to my peers on this one though has my knowledge is lacking on these things Goldie
