Small Tortoiseshell

Post by Martin »

Just spent 2 hours at Aston Rowant...highlight was a Small Tort. I never thought I'd ever be beside myself, punching the air and "Yee-Haing" at the top of my voice, just because I saw and photographed an insect! It was great to see one after so long.

Lovely shots Martin. I've actually seen quite a few small tortoiseshells locally this year...possibly the only butterfly that appears to be in greater abundance than it was last year here in Yorkshire. Strange how this north/south divide works in the insect world.
