I went to Whitecross Green Wood looking for Brown Hairstreak with no success except a possible fleeting glimpse, however there was an abundance of dragonflies including these which I think are darters but I'm not sure which flavour. Could somebody help?
Cheers............Dave

Hi Dave, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'll have a go on these IDs:
1. Ruddy Darter (F) - black legs
2. Ruddy Darter (M) - assuming legs are just black.
3. more difficult - Common Darter (imm. M. based on pale red body) - black +yellow legs
4. Common Darter (F) - black +yellow legs.
