Small & Essex Skippers ? help please

Post by EricY »

I expect this has been asked before but from my photos I cannot be sure of ID. I have gone through all the respective photos on UKB & my books & still cannot with confidence confirm ID. attaching a few photos with my guesses! Eric

I think your IDs are correct, Eric. Photos 3 and 4 are definitely Small Skipper (you can see that the sex brand angles away from the edge of the forewing). Photos 1 and 2 (which are the same photo) and 5 and 6 are more difficult but based on the wing size, shape and veination, I'd agree with you.

Cheers,

- Pete

Many thanks Pete, sorry about mix up with 1&2 I did have another one but no worries. 5&6 were taken in a known place for Essex skippers (Cley beach road) so I did hope they were right. Eric
