LONG-TAILED BLUE in London

Post by Podster »

Got a message today there's a male Long-tailed Blue at East India Dock Basin, Blackwall. On the southside between entrance and wood. Seen at 13.30 then flew to canopy. No further details or messages (via twitter)
Good luck if you're going.

Long-tailed Blue and now a Camberwell Beauty in kent. Do many people attempt to twitch rare butterflies - just seems so much harder than going for a bird? I know the Titchwell CB was well watched.

I would travel a short distance to twitch a butterfly but not a long way when the chances are that it won't be there when you get there. The difference with birds is if I really want to see a camberwell beauty badly I can buy some pupa and breed my own, not so easy with a blue throated robin ...
