Look what I found!!

Went to Broughton downs this morning, and it was the very first thing we saw, managed to get a couple of shots off before it disappeared.

Also saw a Clouded Yellow. (Will sort pic out later)

Out here in Switzerland I got my first one too a couple of days ago:

I can't believe how fast this season has gone. The curtains have already drawn back for the last act...

Cheers for that Guy, now I'm really depressed!

Anyway here is the Clouded Yellow I saw this morning, I've only ever had fleeting glimses of these fellas, so was really pleased to be able to get a pic of it.

Even if it is a bit tatty, it sure is a green eyed beauty.

This fella I got at Stockbridge down yesterday.

Also went down to Keyhaven yesterday, hoping to see the wall, but yet again it has eluded me

Hello Gwenhwyfar,

I will be in that area next week, and would love to see a Silver-spotted Skipper. Would it be possible to give directions or maybe a grid ref.

Sorry, G - I didn't mean to depress you!! But May and June did just seem to vanish into waiting for the sun. I love the final act anyway, with silver-spotted skippers, brown hairstreaks and, out here, tree graylings (not on the wing yet).

It was the only one we saw and that was a brief glimpse, we looked around for quite a while but had no luck in finding the little chap again.

Do Graylings still occur at Broughton? I used to find pale (chalk version) there in the 1970s. Best spot was along the chalky N-S track, a little to the south of the SS Skipper localities and towards the top of the hill:

As far as I know, there are no Graylings - although I would love to be corrected!
