Another HB or DG id

Post by Nigel »

struggling to make my mind up if this is DG or HB Frit and hoped the experts on here would be able to help please.
taken yesterday at Arnside, a hard day for butterfly photography considering the high wind.

Thanks for any help and supporting comments on your identification conclusions to help me sort it myself next time.

It seems to have some id traits of both, or is that just me hoping the result will be the species of these two species that I have less images off?

Cheers
Nigel

I'd say definately a Dark Green Fritilary, Nigel, I've just looked mine up in the Similars web site, and it said the small spot on the wing is in line with the others if it's DGF, but slightly inward and out of line if it's HBF. I'm hoping to be right having put mine in my Diary  Goldie
