Lewington Article

Post by Pete Eeles »

I've just uploaded an Atropos article to Richard Lewington's website - "Artwork versus Photography, Set Specimen versus Natural Posture".

Makes for a good read :)

The guy's an artistic genius. I still found time to lament his comment about his Easter egg illustrations being far more widely viewed than his wildlife masterpieces. Speaks volumes doesn't it?

Agree wholeheartedly David! Can you possibly imagine the modern entomological fieldguides without Richard Lewingtons superb illustrations...we would quite simply have to put up with Mr Eeles photographic skills instead  oops!!!!!!! apologies Peter, I shall most certainly take a good look at the article in question when I get time, thank you for the link

I hope there is a book of his bumble bee illustrations and it's not just for an app. His pictures of butterflies and dragonflies are superb.
