Judging & Voting

Post by Rogerdodge »

Peter
Would it be possible to put all the pictures on one page to make judging easier?
Possibly a blog page or something might do it.

I think that's a good idea, Roger. Pete's away at the moment and although technically I have admin privileges on these pages it's mainly so someone else can moderate, edit out offensive mails, manage new accounts and so forth, in his absence. I'll see if I can do something - but no promises!!

Is this what you had in mind? I've stuck full size copies of all the pictures, in alphabetical order of username, on a single page external to this site. The usernames appear immediately below each picture.

http://www.guypadfield.com/comppics/comppics.html

It is not linked to from anywhere else and will be deleted after the competition (because it takes up quite a lot of space on my server!!). Please allow time for the pictures to load.

I hope all pictures appear at original quality - please let me know anyone if they don't or if I've got a name wrong or anything.

Hi Pete,

Is there any way we could exercise a preferential vote in the monthly photo comp? I mean: first choice, second choice and third choice. Or simpler still, could we be allowed to cast three votes (but only for different entries) instead of one?

I'm not trying to make life more complicated for you ( ) but you are right about the June competition - so many excellent entries, and July already looks like being just as tough a decision. It would be nice to be able show one's appreciation for more than just one photo.

Hi Bran,

I did look at this a while ago - and it seemed to be a fair piece of work. But I'll look again :)

Cheers,

Pete
The page you have put your Bulgaria photos on would be ideal for voting/judging purposes (in my humble opinion!)
I have no idea how difficult this would be though - (probably too).

To be honest - the monthly competition was only possible because the forum happened to have some features that were "close" to what was needed, without me having to write some custom code.

So for now, I'm afraid we'll need to stick with things as they are. But this is on my *very long list* of enhancements needed!

And please keep the ideas coming!

Cheers,

- Pete
