The best way to "watch" butterflies ?

My picture was taken at the end of July and from the information I can gather the silver studded blues are emerging June

They certainly did last year. I visited in the middle part of June and they were abundant.

Thanks for bringing this up all. I've been looking around at the best data set to use for the emergence dates, and the UKBMS is by far the best. Take a look here:

and click on the phenology item. Definitely a discrepancy in the case of Silver-studded Blue!

When I get a chance I'll update the data for ALL species, bearing in mind (like the SSB) that the dates can vary considerably between populations.
