Best lenses for Butterflie Photography?

Post by edgueinart »

Hi there,I was wondering what are the best lens to take some photos of butterflies in your opinion?
Sigma 105mm,Tamron 90mm or shall I go for the sigma 150 or 180?
I use a Nikon D300 with a Tamron 70-300 that give's me 1:2 of "macro" but is not great...
Best regards

Hi edgueinart. I use a Tamron 90mm on my Nikon D300s. I also find a 1.4x teleconverter very useful for extending the working distance. I have written a longer response in the thread at viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6051#p56271 and you will probably find it helpful to read the discussion there.

Of the few you mention, I would say the Sigma 150 is better suited for butterfly work.
