a weeks time to look for chequered Skipper. Can

to look for them. Also would I have a chance of seeing
Marsh and Small PB Frits at the latter site. Many thanks
in advance, Vince

Hi Vince,

I'm off to Glasdrum this weekend. The info. I'm using is at http://www.snh.org.uk/publications/on-l ... efault.asp.

I'm a bit confused as to which frits really do exist at Glasdrum these days. I can't remember where I got the site info from when I put the page at http://www.ukbutterflies.co.uk/sites_ng ... pecies=All together.

For Spean Bridge, go to the bridge indicated at http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dl ... 05&A=Y&Z=3. I missed them last year, but apparently they occur in the area just behind the "car park" (actually, a cleared area of mud!).

Cheers,

- Pete

Might see you there, Vince.

Same species as targets as well.

Does anyone know anything about the Small Blue sites in Northern Scotland either?

Just got back, and managed to see Chequered Skipper. Write up at http://www.hantsiow-butterflies.org.uk/sightings.html (5th June entry).

Hope the weather is OK for anyone else planning to visit Glasdrum!

Also - I visited Spean Bridge, but didn't see any Chequered Skipper.

Cheers,

- Pete

Dear all,
Having just returned from successfully seeing Chequered Skippers
at Glasdrum Wood it is worth noting that the reliability for this
sought-after species at this small reserve has put great pressure
on one of the prime viewing areas, causing some degradation, and
as a result, the warden has closed off the well documented path along
the power lines to the left of the main path as you walk up from the
car park.
However, by walking the main, circular 1km path I obtained
some great views of CS's at various points anyway. So, although this is the current status of the reserve there is no reason why people
should not still come and enjoy these wonderful creatures.
