Bentley Wood 3rd July

Post by Geoff Dicker »

In less than favourable conditions we (John Booth, Wayne Clinch and myself) managed to see the following :

1 male Purple Emperor in the oak tree by the car park but it remained high in the tree.
2 Dark Green Fritillary.
40+ Silver-Washed Frits.
3 White-Letter Hairstreak high in the normal elms.
8 Marbled Whites.
3 Large Whites.
1 GV White.
2 Small Whites.
50+ Large Skippers.
10+ Small Skippers.
1 Gatekeeper.
10 White Admirals.
2 Red Admirals.
2 Commas.
Plus loads of Ringlets and Meadow Browns.

Sounds like a good visit.
I am planning on a visit to Bentley this Saturday.
Forecast seems pretty good, but forecasts seem so hit and miss these days.
