This is a long shot but my daughter is travelling around the world at the moment and would like my wife and me to meet up with her in Peru in May/June whilst she does the Inca trail. Does anyone have any experience of travel to Peru or recommendations of travel companies? Probably not but thanks in advance.

Re: Peru
Dear Ian,
Having seen your message yesterday I put an email out to a friend who has travelled to South America on a number of occasions. Although she has not visited Peru, she suggested you might try the following as a starting point.
She wrote:
I've never been to Peru, but THE good travel firm is JOURNEY LATIN AMERICA who know all there is to know about flights, countries in South America, places to visit, etc. TRAILFINDERS are very good on flights and travel, I've used them several times. On EXPEDIA's website you can look up/ compare flight prices.
I hope this helps.
Good luck.
Kind regards. Mark

Many thanks Mark. Ian
Re: Peru
I only visited Lima & it's port on a couple of days in mid december one year on a cruise. The cold Humbolt current produces lots of cloud most of the year, I believe only jan/feb/mar are sunny on the coast & thats when locals all take their holidays. April May time will therefor be their autumn time. We also stopped one day at a "wharfe" called Gen San Martin out in the desert near a village called Parancas. One hotel there as it is the place to do a speedboat trip to the "Ilas Balestas" billed as Peru's mini Galapagos Is. If you do get to Peru the wildlife on those islands is amazing & well worth the effort to see. It was a highlight of the cruise for me. Eric

Re: Peru
Hi Ian
I've never been to South America but my parents have been several times including Peru on bird watching and natural history holidays. All of their trip reports which give summary details of the travel companies and tour guides used can be found on my natural history website at http://www.ibirdz.co.uk then click on the trip reports and South America.
If you need any further information please PM me and I'll pass on my Dads email address if you any specific questions for him.
Have a great trip.
