Can you identify this?

Post by Duffymoon »

Sadly, my camera wasn't to hand but today I saw a tiny little butterfly (or possibly a moth - I'm no expert) but it was the prettiest thing. It's bottom wings were a lovely magenta pink and the top were grey with small pink spots on each wing. It was struggling to stay in the air for more than 10 seconds! The wings sat back like a moth hence why I think it could be a moth but I thought they were night creatures.........like I said, I'm no expert!

Any suggestions?

Cheers

The Cinnabar

It is almost a certain that what you have seen flying is the Cinnabar Moth.
A beautiful moth but with a very poor flight pattern.

Hope this helps
