Getting anything in shot next to a male Skipper is pretty good going!

I remember that one - hard to beat!

Here's another pair, including another Large Skipper within sight of something else...

Hi I have gone though my butterfly photos and come up with these shots of two or more species. Some of the photos are a bit blurred ( a combination of an old camera and butterflies moving to fast ) if you look hard you should see what I saw.

accustomed as I am to lower the tone of any gathering, I feel it is my duty to represent an image, albeit French, of butterflies at POO, since no-one else has represented the POO party.....
IMG_9593.jpg
I could let you decide for yourselves which species are represented, but Damon, Eros and Chalkhill are there, with either icarus or aricia sp. not sure about that! -

PS...Hope the forthcoming rules don't ban POO :D

PPS.... I must point out it was not in fact my duty, but presumably scat of fox or Alpine cat thing :?

PPPS... sorry about the c**p photo quality

If I must, I will once again post this offering. There is one interloper amongst the Chalkhill poo afficionados...

While you lot are going through the motions, here's sweeter bait.

Two species caught here, scrumping fermenting apple. One is a British butterfly.

That forewing visible in the lower right corner looks distinctly Hipparchia semele.

Another entry for the poo party.

Taken at Fermyn / Lady Wood. If I had been a bit quicker I would have caught a Red Admiral in there as well but he took off as I approached and didn't come back.

I agree that looks like a grayling.
For the others my initial thought was large Wall brown, then Great Sooty Satyr and then Tree Grayling :? Don't know, just guessing really

Put me out of my misery Guy

Sorry - no intention to cause misery!

Yes, David was right - that's a grayling. And the thronging masses it's rubbing shoulders with are tree graylings, as you guessed.

LOL! Yes, had they contacted Guy Padfield prior to publication they'd have saved themselves significant embarrassment.

Perhaps you should offer your services on a consultancy basis, Guy. :)

This is definitely a challenge for next year. This was the best I could manage for this year, I think there are two species here. I could be wrong.
