Colour saturation in Google Chrome

Post by Bill S »

Hi all

Has anyone else noticed that Google Chrome seems to display images with slightly more saturated colours than other browsers? I say slight but it is easily noticeable; if I save my image in photoshop elements and load it to the galleries here or Flickr then view it in Google Chrome the colour saturation is different from the Elements saved file but if I view it with Safari it looks the same as it did when saved.

For info I use a Mac OSX Snow Leopard, have a calibrated monitor and save all jpgs with a SRGB profile, not that it matters as I can display two images from the same source using two different browsers and the results are not identical.

Looks to me as though Chrome doesn't use the SRGB profile quite right. Apologies if this is a well known thing, I just noticed that when looking at some of my uploads that the saturation looked over done so started to check things out.

Cheers

I have noticed that too Bill, noticed it a long time ago (I am a webdesigner so had to go through the differences in various browsers), also noticed a slight difference in Firefox as well compared to Internet Explorer 9 or Chrome. Two different browsers seem to often display webpages slightly differently.
Cheers all,
