I thought I'd treat myself to some swallowtail pupae yesterday. I didn't expect them to hatch for ages and so hadn't put them into a suitable netted enclosure but a few mintes ago I noted that one had hatched in it's container so I transferred it onto something suitable and it's now pumping up it's wings. Thank goodness I didn't go to bed earlier as I would have missed it and it would have ended up deformed.
It's such a beautiful creature! Shame my cameras are upstairs and everyone is asleep so I can't disturb them.
