Sounds good to me too. Couldn't we just talk about brown hairstreaks from the comfort of the lounge bar?Susie wrote:I'm looking forward to the 2012 UKButts photographic forum already as it is always nice to meet up with folk from here. Perhaps we should have a winter social. We could combine a bit of brown hairstreak egg hunting with a visit to a country pub for a good old natter.

I was very pleased to put faces to names too - and enjoyed a pleasant chat.
After the heat of the hall, my wife and I made the short trip to the RHS garden at Wisley. The long herbaceous borders were looking magnificent but, alas, not a single butterfly. I had hoped for some Red Admirals but nothing!

Not often I can say that my garden is better than Wisley but when I got home from the AES today there were red admirals and small whites here.

Re: AES Exhibition 2011
It was great to see Pete, Susie and Piers again, re-acquaint with Mark and meet Mike Oxon. We had a good chat about the past season and it was interesting to catch up with some of the UKB the news with Pete. I still can't get over the revelation that Mark Colvin only started photographing butterflies in June this year (another Lumix user!)
All I purchased was some cage netting, which I hope to utilise next season.
A great shame that there was an empty stand in the corner, but pleased that Gary and Lisa got back ok.

Luck always helps, but good butterfly photos are mostly down to knowledge of the subject - which you have!Mark Colvin wrote:I'm sure its pure luck!

Sussex salmon? A tad pink were we after the heat yesterday, Mark, or is that a red herring?
