French Blue Butterfly

Can you identify this French Butterfly ? It is from the Hérault in the South

Hi Charles.

There is a cell spot lurking there so probably Common Blue although there is a hint of chequering along the wing edges but it may be an artefact of the light on the shot which by the way is a great photo.

Thanks for the speedy reply Paul. The blue colour on the upperside was very intense... maybe just a French thing :)

I'd have gone for Adonis. The fringes are Adonis, the colour and feel are right and it does look as if there's quite a lot of cell spot in there...

as soon as i saw it, i said Adonis Blue, so i will stick with that.

Ah thanks Guy and hideandseek. I do apologise for the delay in getting back.
I thought that this was different from the usual Common Blues which i have seen in this country. The colour was fascinating.
