Alner's Gorse Today.

Post by Zonda »

All three Hairstreaks on show here today, for both spotters and photographers.

Little Master Moffatt was here.

Purples were also in abundance, but i've taken so many pics of them, i've sickened myself till next year. A great year here for PHs. WLHs seem to have had a fairly long flight. BHs are showing in small numbers now.
Cheers,,, Zonda.

Fantastic shots as per usual! I'm hoping to try the Gorse for the first time in the next few days so here's hoping the White Letters still look as respectable as yours does :D
Have a goodun

Down the approach track at the bottom on the left on thistles, 2 BHs both sexes. Just around the corner to the left, lower branches of small oak tree next to bramble clump, 5 or 6 PHs on lower branches 6ft max. Turn left at bottom of approach track on bramble, but could be anywhere on this hedge BHs. Walk along the left-hand hedgerow to the brambles by the gate WLHs. If you are patient, you will see BHs now, PHs are still showing, but 2 weeks ago was best. WLHs you will have to be very, very lucky, as i think they are coming to the end of their season this year. I have noticed that the Hairstreaks are mainly observable after 11.00am. Good luck. ZONDA.
Cheers,,, Zonda.
