Have you been there ?

I know exactly where it is, but haven't ever been there and can't see why it should have such a bad reputation as this part of France is relatively genteel. This is most surprising to me and I think you should seek further information before dismissing it as a potential den of iniquity.

Disturbing stuff, but I suppose wherever you go there is a risk of encountering antisocial behaviour. Thankfully, such behaviour is far less commonplace in France than it is in the UK (their society is still largely self-disciplining, unlike ours).

Gaillac is a nice spot, between Albi and Toulouse. I spent a month there at a French language school in 2000 and enjoyed every minute.

Wonderful report of a wonderful butterfly holiday, reports such as this are a veritable minefield of information for anyone considering such a holiday. I'm not an envious person by nature, but on this occasion...'I'm bloody envious'...

Many thanks for sharing it with us David, it comes across as a holiday you thoroughly enjoyed...apart from a lack of a credit card that is

Thanks Bill. Yes, it was great but over all too quickly.

I'm already looking forward to going back to France next year. It's nice to be taken out of your comfort zone every once in a while.
