Aberrant mountain ringlet?

Just back from a short trip to Scotland, in search of the mountain ringlet. I saw several on the slopes of Ben Lawers including this one which, when I got back and looked closely at the photo, I noticed has hardly any of the usual dark spots in the orange flashings. I don't think it is worn out so could it be regarded as an aberration?
