Two butterflies on a stick

I was trying to get a photograph of this Golden-ringed dragonfly when the Meadow Brown turned up closely followed by his friend. Why is it that butterflies are never around when you want them but always appear when you don't want 'em.

Amazing shot.

Aren't those two butterflies taking a big risk settling so close to a dragonfly?
