Small Blue on Stockbridge Down

Spotted 3 female Small Blue on Stockbridge Down yesterday (3rd of June). We checked with a couple of more knowledgeable Lepidopteriest then ourselfs, and it seems that the Small Blue has not been recorded there. After trawling through the internet, we did however find a National Trust artical, dated 1999, which was about measures to protect the Small Blue on Stockbridge Down. So i think our sighting was not a first, but the first for sometime. Has any one else seen them there

Going through my old Hants and IOW reports, it looks like Small Blue were last recorded in 2000, when 1 was seen. Since then, Stockbridge Down hasn't been mentioned in the reports.

So - good find!

The weekly transect count for various years is:

1992 - 16
1993 - 9
1994 - 6
1995 - ?
1996 - 1
1997 - 7
1998 - 0
1999 - 12
2000 - 1
2001 - ?

Cheers Pete, now that we know where, we'll keep a eye on them.
