Prestbury Hill

Post by Neil Freeman »

Hi,

I am thinking of taking a drive down to Prestbury Hill tomorrow. From where I am in the Midlands it seems it seems a good site to look for Duke of Burgundy and possibly Small Blue.
I Have never been there before and would appreciate it if anyone has any advice or recommendations on good places to look.

Cheers,

Neil.

Find a wind-sheltered slope, eg at approx SO990236

Many Thanks Jack.

I am fairly new to this website and nor always sure which threads to look in for the best info. Slowly getting the hang of it though and thoroughly enjoying browsing the various threads.

Cheers,

Neil.

If you cover the entire site (will take about 2 hours), you can't really miss seeing a handful of DoBs at least.

Just a little update on how I got on.
Arrived at midday, weather was nice and sunny but with steady wind.
I stayed just over 2 hours and managed to see about a dozen or so Duke of Burgundy and Dingy Skippers.
Also a few each of Small Blue, Common Blue, Brown Argus, Green Hairstreak, Small Heath, Speckled Wood and Orange Tip.
Also seen were single examples of Brimstone and Red Admiral.
