Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary in Bristol

Post by Andrew Mc »

I photographed this Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary yesterday at Ashton Court meadow on the edge of Bristol. It hasn't been recorded here before - the nearest stronghold is Dolebury Warren, 12 miles away. So the question is, did it make the journey by itself or did it receive assistance? The damage on the forewings makes me suspicious...

Well spotted. I visited that site on Sunday, but didn't see any then.
The reserve is run by the Avon Wildlife Trust so they might like a report of your sighting. Their website is http://www.avonwildlifetrust.co.uk.
