A moth for ID

Post by traplican »

Last year on May I have gathered common balm (Melissa officinalis) in my garden, dried one and stored leaves into a glass. This year on April 30th I have found that this glass had changed into an unmeant insectary: It contained about 10 moth. I have released them and taken one of them to this photo:

Can anybody help me with the identification, please?

Idaea inquinata. It's well known for feeding on dried plants and can be a nuisance in botanists' herbaria. See http://www.lepiforum.de/cgi-bin/lepiwik ... _inquinata.

saw this and literally opened the front door to a small dusty wave tonight, it didn't ring the bell or anything, just came to porch light. and a lovely fresh streamer tonight at a neighbours house.

Thanks Mikhail, that's it! I have dried the balm on the loft where is stored the hay for the rabbits and I remember that some moth flew from the hay out.
