Re: Canon lens advice please
Yeah poor Helen gets the use of my digital still gear and only really has to carry that while I build my muscles up carrying the video gear.
I think there will be a lot of sit down breaks in the mountains.
I'm drooling over that lens but won't think about it too much as I'll never be able to afford it.

Gill
Hope you win enough to buy us all one. Infact if you have a good win I'd love one of those Canon 800mm lenses for photogaraphing birds. They're only around £13K new.
Take care

Re: Canon lens advice please
I agree that the f2.8 is a strong argument for the 17-55 but the ISO 12233 comparison images of the two lenses shows that the image quality of the 15-85 is no slouch compared to the 17-55, in fact some of the time it is sharper and I don't think it is ever less sharp. So for EF-S general purpose lenses the 17-55 it not such a clear cut winner as it used to be. PerhapsGruditch wrote:
So if your going to plug a EF-S lens, the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f2.8 IS USM, is the one to go after, I used to lust after this lens. F2.8 so its much faster than the 15-85 which is f3.5-5.6, and it is said to have Canon L glass.

Re: Canon lens advice please
The speed of the 17-55 would be the deciding factor for me. But the 17-55 the 10-22, and the 15-85, I think are the best EF-s lenses so far.
The best lens I've ever used, would be Lisa's 70-200 F4 IS. Unbelievably light, brilliant AF, stunning IQ, and the best IS you can get.
