December 2010 competition

Post by Gruditch »

Please note that, over the winter, various "themes" will be given for the competition. You may choose any photo you have so long as it's relevant to the theme (and is not restricted to photos taken during the month in question)! December theme is, Camouflage.
To enter the competition, please post a single image (1 post per member) as follows:

- Click on the "Gallery" link and then open the "December 2010" album
- Click the "NEWIMAGE" button
- Follow the instructions to upload a single image

To view the entries:

- Click on the "Gallery" link and then open the "December 2010" album

You'll be able to edit or delete your entry until 5th January. To do this:

- Select the "Moderate" link at the bottom of the image details
- Take the appropriate action

You will be unable to rate or comment on the image until the competition has been voted on. Comments and constructive critique are very welcome thereafter.

Look forward to seeing the entries roll in , good luck !

Congratulations to Fishiee, Paul and Tony. You were my top three followed by Charles and marmari.
Not an easy subject but still some brilliant photos. Thank to those who voted for me.
Well done everyone :)

Thanks all for the votes on what was a tricky subject. Usually the aim is to make the butterfly stand out from the background, so luckily I could find a species in my collection that fitted the bill - I don't know what the bush was that I photographed it on, but it was a bit of a nettle tree butterfly magnet with about 20 going barmy for the flowers together with some massive bright green beetles! Once the butterflies had had a good feed they just 'rested' on the twigs which meant I could get some good clear shots :)

My favourites this month were Paul's Excellent Oak Beauty, Charles' clouded yellow - yes sometimes yellow can be hard to see! :) and Antonym's I don't know what it is! :)

I also loved Denise's Line Hamkmoth which is one moth I'd dearly love to see, however it's camouflage wasn't so good as the others. Admittedly it is better hidden than Grumpy's black arches - maybe in black and white it doesn't show up so well! ;)

Thanks Fishiee. I'm still trying to get into the top three

I was going to use this one. Perhaps (in hindsight) I should have.

Red Underwing.
