I can see that both electronic and printed mediums have advantages.

I quite like that idea for this site though Pete; if, for example, enough people reported seeing a Brown Hairstreak active at 10am on a warm sunny morning then, although going against current wisdom, in the least it would help with planning trips to see particular species and at best (over time) could indicate changes in species' behaviour - which might need to be studied further.

For instance, it could lead to study into how human activity, climate change or alien species may be affecting our fauna and ultimately, to further conservation. I'm not saying this isn't already covered in Entomological journals but I can see a place in both mediums for these sort of observations.

Cheers

Lee

Now you're talking, I am quite into this idea. Fancy a New Year drink to discuss? you owe me a beer or two anyway... :D :D

Felix.
Sounds good - just ping me a date/time/place :) Perhaps we could make it a UKB bash should anyone else want to chime in :)

Cheers,

Hi Liz,
A very belated 'welcome' from me (I finally resolved a two week IT nightmare only yesterday). The UKB website will undoubtedly benefit greatly from your contributions. Good to hear that you'll be back on the Emperors this summer.
Best Wishes, Neil

No worries, mate - but you're covering your own petrol expenses, Devon's a long way away lol!

Seriously, if there's going to be a get-together then I'm very happy to buy you guys a beer. Putting faces to names, swapping tales and tips, comparing plans for the coming season...all sounds like an excellent idea to me. Everyone round to Susie's "excellent local"? Horsham area, I believe?

Gibster.

Thanks Neil for the welcome.

Trying to catch up with our PE report for 2010, hope to publish it later this week once we have sorted out a few late reports.

Will provide a link when it is ready.

All the best
Liz
