A question from the dumb blonde, is that larval food plants or can it be adults' nectar/honeydew/unmentionables/etc sources?

As far as I'm concerned ...Susie wrote:A question from the dumb blonde, is that larval food plants or can it be adults' nectar/honeydew/unmentionables/etc sources?
a butterfly egg is a butterfly ...
a butterfly larva is a butterfly ...
a butterfly pupa is a butterfly ...
a butterfly is ... er ... a butterfly

I believe that an adult butterfly with its larval foodplant is intended!
Cheers,

Re: October 2010 Competition
Do we have a November competition subject? I've not seen a posting for this month's competition yet.

I can't remember if I've voted. I think I did a while ago but not so sure now. Is there any way I can tell?
Re: October 2010 Competition
Has voting been opened then?

Forgot again, it opened on the 5th, do you really need me to say voting is open every month.Susie wrote:Has voting been opened then?

It allowed me to vote so guess I hadn't!
I wasn't sure if it stopped you voting again if you already had. I know now at least![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: October 2010 Competition
Congratulations to all and thanks for the votes for my pic ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Entries a little down on previous competitions, I guess due to the run-up to christmas. A little less challenging than next month's category though!
My favourites this month were the images by Nigel Kiteley, Denise, zhanc, m_galathea and Vince Massimo. Vinces would have been my winner if the cowslip was on the right of the shot with the Duke on the left. As it was it was a stunning shot, but looked unbalanced that way round. Not a lot you could have done about it other than abused it in photoshop quite dramatically! Maybe darkening down the cowslip (or brightening the butterfly) a little would be less dramatic solution (either with fill flash or photoshop) as that's the brightest part of the image and therefore the bit that draws your attention rather than the butterfly. If they were equally bright the shot would be more balanced

Re: October 2010 Competition
Congratulations to FISHiEE and zhanc who were easily my top two and soon made me realise that the rest of us would be left contesting third place this month. Thanks to everyone that voted and for those that came my way to enable me to sneak into that position
. The scores were very close and every vote counted.
Thanks also to FISHiEE for the comments, which I value. I completly agree, however my photo processing options are limited and I had to settle for just a bit of cropping and contrast control. I was only able to get two shots on the day and did not get the opportunity to try other settings before the butterfly moved off. Now that the competition is over it can take its place in the Species Album.
