Moth ID help please!

Post by bspadn »

I'm new to mothing and have a few I'm unsure about: any suggestions as to their identity (and why) would be very much appreciated! I think the first is probably a lesser yellow underwing, but it's different to the others I've seen as the stigmata are joined, I think the second is possibly a cream wave (but is 20 August too late?), and I think the third is either a common rustic, a small clouded brindle or a confused. Thanks! Andy

try one of the pyralids for the cream wave. Mother of pearl maybe?

Thanks Chris, it looks good to me! I didn't realise it was a 'micro', which might explain why I couldn't find anything that looked quite right in my book! Andy

Thanks Paul. A clouded brindle rather than a small clouded brindle? Andy

Dave, would you say that the moths in my other post ("More moths!") are also common/lesser rustic? Cheers, Andy
