November 2010 competition

Post by Gruditch »

Please note that, over the winter, various "themes" will be given for the competition. You may choose any photo you have so long as it's relevant to the theme (and is not restricted to photos taken during the month in question)! November theme is, Caught in flight.

To enter the competition, please post a single image (1 post per member) as follows:

- Click on the "Gallery" link and then open the "November 2010" album
- Click the "NEWIMAGE" button
- Follow the instructions to upload a single image

To view the entries:

- Click on the "Gallery" link and then open the "November 2010" album

You'll be able to edit or delete your entry until 5th December. To do this:

- Select the "Moderate" link at the bottom of the image details
- Take the appropriate action

You will be unable to rate or comment on the image until the competition has been voted on. Comments and constructive critique are very welcome thereafter.

Look forward to seeing the entries roll in , good luck !

I agree - but this is what the members asked for a while back (see viewtopic.php?f=23&t=3920). How many actually have photos of critters in flight is another matter altogether! I guess we're about to find out :D

Cheers,

Ah yes I didn't notice that thread. I saw the sticky 09/10 season one at the top not that one further down.... then when I look at it I see I voted on it so I guess my memory is going!

Is this open to moths as well as butterflies? I notice a Hummingbird Hawkmoth has appeared. Hadn't thought of uploading one of those as I assumed it was butterflies only?

We nearly always get one or two moths in the comps, so I can't see a problem with using one for now.

Everyone must be busy wrapping their christmas presents :)

Congratulations to the winners. A tough subject being the reason for the low number of entries. Thought Julian's Brimstone would be the one to beat and I was proved right.

December isn't exactly an easy topic either! Did the people voting actually think about whether they could get images for these themes? ;)

Thanks folks for voting for me, I'm really pleased to get a 1st - and well done to all the other entrants.

There were some really excellent photo's for this competition. Especially John (Fishiee's) close up of a Hummingbird Hawkmoth and Teejay's amusing Brimstones 'queueing' picture. A little reminder that Spring is just around the corner... let's hope. I'm sure both could have won but for my jammy exposure using a 40d and 100ef macro. Of the others, NickB's Beehawk was really good as was Denise's Hummer. I also really liked Antonym's Speckled Woods which had a nice balance and 'painterly' quality to it.

And now for the confession...I didn't vote... oops, ouch ouch ouch! I'm really sorry but I encountered problems with my login details & password, and finally got back in on 20th. When I checked to vote the next day I realised I'd missed the deadline by a day. Really sorry....
