Book Advice

Post by Michael L »

This is my first post here so, hello to all.

I am looking to get some advice on a good field guide for me and my daughter to use. We are looking for a book that has UK butterflies only and has pictures of both the males and females with underside wing pictures of both as well. Preferably one specie per page.

I have the Collins Nature Guides Butterflies and Moths of Britain & Europe but there are not nearly enough pictures to make positive identifications for us novices.

I have been to many town book shops with no joy and unfortunately Amazon does not allow you to see inside before buying.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :D

Hi Michael,

Given your requirements, I'd recommend "Britain's Butterflies":

I would recommend Richard Lewington's Pocket Guide to the Butterflies of Britain and Ireland.
