Chalk Hill Blue?

Post by john57sharp »

Hello everybody - just dropped in here to ask about this image Gilly took yesterday near Parkgate in Wirral. We think it is a Chalk Hill Blue (we are just walkers with curiosity!) but it seems too far north?

Thanks

I would say that is a common blue. Did the upperside give you reason to think it might be a chalkhill blue?

Thanks for your response Guy - no it was suggested to us that it may be a Chalk Hill Blue, but we have now had a better look at the descriptions on this site and understand how similar these 2 look from below - obviously the location is pretty far wrong too.

Never mind, it is a fantastic creature for all it's common-ness - and we have come to appreciate it even more since taking a picture - I think we'll be going back for more so we may be back with more questions!

Thanks
