Wall

Post by Zonda »

Several female Wall have come to my wildlife garden recently. All are very bird pecked, whereas the Brimstones are immaculate. Are Wall prone to this?

I think all 'eye-spot' browns are vulnerable to it. Some of the Meadow Browns and Ringlets I've been seeing lately look like they've gone 9 rounds with a Raptor.

Walls also jerk their wings open rapidly too, so I guess this makes predators go for what they think are the eyes (which is how nature intended).

Nice to see someone with plenty of Wall Browns though. They're a hard spot these days.
