I recently found several of these caterpillars on flag iris in my pond, and have also seen them on the same plant at the pools in Bentley Wood. Any ideas?

Without seeing their legs - which would be conclusive, they look a lot like sawfly larvae to me...

Yes, they'd be sawfly larvae Rhadinoceraea micans (Iris Sawfly). They were featured in the documentary on the Halcyon River Diaries and they love chewing up the Yellow Flag Iris.
