Maybe Adonis Blue

Post by Fatherhobbit »

Whilst out wleking last week I was able to see a get some photo's of what I now believe might be an Adonis blue. I have zoomed in to get the image to be as large as possible, hopefully detail is still good enough to confirm. Not sure how far north the extend. Photos taken in the North Hampshie area, just south of Newbury, on chalk downland.

hopefully there is enough detail in images to identify.

Hi Malcolm,

This looks like a Common Blue to me, based on a lack of chequered fringes on the wings. Also, I'n unaware of any sites south of Newbury (and I live in Thatcham!).

Cheers,

Pete,

Thanks for the feed back, no fame and glory for finding a new habitat then. I had spent some time yesterday going through the various options on the identification pages and I just wasn't sure. Next time I'm in the same area I'll have to try and get a bit closer to see if I can get more detail. When I saw it, it had just landed on the path in front of me, I knew if I moved it would be away so just had to take the shots from where I was.
